travel journal: kathmandu

It is mid November 2019 and I’ve just booked tickets to fly out to Nepal in less than a month. At this point, I didn’t have any expectations and I may have deliberately researched very little so I could throw myself into somewhere new and exciting just to see it for myself.

What resulted was a very nervous first couple of days of me struggling to navigate around the crowded streets of Kathmandu and dodging the calls of hustlers beckoning us weary travellers to follow them into their massage parlours. I was also pretty drained after having done multiple shoots in a trip to Tokyo just before, so I spent the first half of the week camera free as I roamed the streets while inhaling momos along the way.

Below are a few street snaps on the last day, where my friend Ricky and I darted around Kathmandu in beaten up rickshaws and two dollar scooter rides from Patan Durbar Square to the monkey temple, Swayambhunath Stupa.
